Since setting up the original fence, the army has prevented 19.000, and the police 14.000 illegal crossings, and therefore we are now beginning the second phase of raising a security fence whose aim will be to prevent additional illegal crossings and appearance of illegal crossing points at our border, stated the President of the Republic of Macedonia, H.E. Dr. Gjorge Ivanov during his visit of the southern border line and the crisis affected areas.

This points to the fact - President Ivanov said - that by only allowing the entry of refugees from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, illegal migration of economic migrants has increased and they are trying to find all possible ways to avoid registration and illegally cross our border.

In order to prevent illegal crossings with counterfeit documents, the President announced the creation of a unique biometric registration fiche for migrants, to be issued at the border with Greece to people having stated their intention to transit until they reach their final destination.

"So far, the police has uncovered 5500 counterfeit documents.   On certain days, hundreds of such false documents have been detected, mostly passports and also documents issued by Frontex, as well as ID cards used by economic migrants from Africa and Asia in order to present themselves as refugees, stated President Ivanov.

The Macedonian President explained that a difference must be made between the security and the humanitarian aspect of this crisis.  The Republic of Macedonia, noted President Ivanov, is thankful to all countries, organizations, NGOs that help for the humanitarian part of the crisis, adding that the Republic of Macedonia needs greater assistance in tackling the security risks.

"So far, the entire security related aspect of the crisis has been handled by us, and in this sense, we have been given promises that were never kept.  We are using our own budgetary funds, funds of the Army and the police, stated President Ivanov, adding that the country needs help in the form of patrol vehicles, thermal cameras and other equipment for a more efficient handling of the migrant crisis.

President Ivanov expressed his gratitude for the presence of police forces from six friendly countries at the Macedonian – Greek border and he expressed an expectation for their support and presence in the future.  The Macedonian President emphasized that the Republic of Macedonia is ready to face all challenges and expressed his expectation that EU decisions will be more adequate to the weather conditions and new developments.

" According to all forecasts, the improvement of weather conditions will also mean a new wave of migrants and this is why we need to be ready to regulate illegal border crossings, in order to enable those who have the right to entry - refugees, to enter and reach their desired destination in the most humane way possible - President Ivanov stated.

Today, the Macedonian President was briefed about the overall conditions at the Macedonian – Greek border, as well as the activities taken by the Army and police in function of registering migrants and protecting the borderline against illegal entries.

At the London Summit dedicated to Syria and the Region, President Ivanov informed the European Leaders on the measures taken by Macedonia in order to handle the refugee crisis, the threat of illegal migration, as well as the increased security risks along the migrant corridor.  This weekend, the President of the Republic of Macedonia will take part in the Munich Security Conference, and will then leave for Prague, where Macedonia has received a special invitation to participate at the extraordinary summit of the Vishegrad group countries.
 

Иванов – Меркел: Германија очекува договорот меѓу Турција и ЕУ за мигрантите да се почитува

Последните случувања околу бегалската криза и состојбата на граничните премини, беа во фокусот на денешните разговори на Претседателот на Република Македонија д-р Ѓорге Иванов со германската канцеларка Ангела Меркел, во рамки на учеството на Самитот во Лондон посветен на Сирија.

На средбата, македонскиот претседател ја информираше Меркел за последните случувања на македонско-грчката граница, како и за мерките кои Република Македонија во континуитет ги презема за справување со бегалската криза.

Претседателот Иванов истакна дека и покрај тоа што Македонија во моментов пропушта бегалци само од трите држави зафатени со воени дејствија, сепак и натаму бројките се мошне високи, посебно имајќи ги предвид зимските временски околности.

Германската канцеларка изрази надеж дека усогласениот договор меѓу ЕУ и Турција ќе функционира и дека сите преземени обврски ќе бидат испочитувани и исполнети. Воедно, на средбата со претседателот Иванов, Меркел изрази интерес околу развојот на политичките случувања во Република Македонија и во регионот.

Иванов-Камерон: Мора да се зголемат капацитетите на македонско-грчката граница

Бегалската криза и состојбите на македонско-грчката граница беа во фокусот на разговорите на Претседателот на Република Македонија д-р Ѓорге Иванов и британскиот премиер Дејвид Камерон на синоќешниот прием кај Принцот Чарлс во Лондон.
Претседателот Иванов го информираше Камерон за заканата од илегална миграција и зголемите безбедносни ризици долж мигрантскиот коридор. Британскиот премиер изрази интерес за случувањата на македонско - грчката граница и за тоа дали се спроведува одлуката да се пропуштаат само бегалците од кризните региони, Ирак, Авганистан и Сирија.

Претседателот Иванов истакна дека низ Македонија досега има поминато милион бегалци, а од ноември се пропуштаат бегалците од трите конфликтни подрачја.

„Безбедносните ризици се зголемуваат и во последно време полицијата открива се повеќе лица со лажни исправи и регистрациски документи издадени од ФРОНТЕКС, кои се обидуваат да ја преминат границата и да продолжат по рутата за што е предложено и прифаќање на единствен биометриски регистрациски лист за мигрантите кој ќе се издава на границата со Грција со намера да транзитираат до крајната дестинација“, истакна претседателот Иванов.

Двајцата соговорници се согласија дека мора да се зголемат капацитетите за заштита на македонско – грчката граница.
Македонскиот претседател на синоќешниот прием се сретна и со Филип Хамонд, министер за надворешни работи на Обединетото Кралство, со претставници на меѓународните организации, невладини организации, како и средба со ГС на УНЕСКО, Ирина Бокова.
Претседателот Иванов на маргините на Конференцијата во Лондон разговараше и со претседателот на Советот на Европската унија Доналд Туск, со претседателите на Хрватска и на Швајцарија, Колинда Грабар Китаровиќ и Јохан Шнајдер Аман и со естонскиот премиер, Тави Ројвас.

Иванов – Ципрас: Потребно е интензивирање на соработката за бегалската криза

Потребно е интензивирање и подигнување на нивото на соработка меѓу македонските и грчките институции во однос на сите аспекти на бегалската криза, како на границата, така и на сите нивоа на соработка меѓу органите на двете земји, беше исходот од денешната средба на претседателот на Република Македонија д-р Ѓорге Иванов и грчкиот премиер Алексис Ципрас во Лондон.

Во разговорите посебно беше истакната потребата од поголема координација меѓу полицијата и останатите безбедносни служби на двете држави.

На средбата со Ципрас беше заклучено дека Македонија и Грција како соседни земји, мора да соработуваат бидејќи неопходна е синхрознирана акција на македонските и грчките институции со цел надминување на проблемите предизвикани од бегалската криза.

Церар: Словенија ја поддржува Македонија во справувањето со бегалската криза

Словенија целосно ги поддржува напорите на Македонија на јужната граница за справување со бегалската криза и заштитата на границата со Грција за што сведочи и присуството на словенечката полиција на македонско-грчката граница, истакна премиерот на Словенија, Миро Церар на денешната средба со Претседателот на Република Македонија д-р Ѓорге Иванов, во рамки на учеството на Самитот во Лондон посветен на Сирија и регионот.

Церар потврди дека Словенија е отворена за соработка по сите прашања во врска со бегалската криза и дека словенечките институции се целосно на располагање. Воспоставена е и координација на институциите кои се задолжени со справувањето со мигрантската и бегалска криза.

Македонскиот претседател се заблагодари за отворената поддршка, како и за неодамнешното барање на Миро Церар до претседателот на ЕК, Јункер за европска поддршка за мерките и инструментите што Македонија ги презема за заштита на јужната гранична линија.

Двајцата соговорници ја истакнаа подготвеноста на Македонија и Словенија за интензивирање на соработката и продолжување на одличната координација на сите нивоа. Беа разменети мислења за севкупната состојба во Европа и регионот во однос на случувањата со бегалската криза и состојбите во Сирија.

Претседателот на Република Македонија, д-р Ѓорге Иванов, денеска присуствуваше на одбележувањето на големиот христијански празник Св. Атанасиј Велики, што се одржа во црквата „Св. Атанасиј" во Тетово.

Во истоимената црква претседателот Иванов присуствуваше на света божествена литургија во сослужение на свештеници од тетовското архиерејско намесништво на МПЦ-ОА, и на церемонијата на осветување на празничниот колач. Македонскиот претседател на верниците им го честише празникот Св. Атанасиј Велики, посакувајќи им здравје, радост и благосостојба.

Во црквата во манастирскиот комплекс на тетовското кале, традиционално се прославува христијански празник Св. Атанасиј Велики. Старешината на манастирот прота Дарко Наумоски го истакна значење и потребата за продолжување на оваа црковно-народна традиција.

Црквата „Св. Атанасиј" која датира од 14 век, претставува еден од најстарите христијански црковни споменици во овој дел од Република Македонија.
 

During his visit to the Italian Republic, the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov had a working dinner with members of the Italian - Macedonian Chamber of Commerce, whose activities are focused on the development of economic cooperation between the two countries.  The businessmen informed President Ivanov on their activities in function of promoting economic cooperation and trade exchange with the Republic of Macedonia, emphasizing that for them, our country is an attractive destination for expansion of their businesses and capacities.  President Ivanov stated that Italy is an important trade partner of Macedonia, and that it has been among the top 10 trade partners of our country in continuity, expressing his expectation that the number of Italian investments in the Republic of Macedonia will increase in the forthcoming period.   The Italian – Macedonian Chamber of Commerce was established in 2015, with an aim to develop the overall relations between the two countries, with a particular focus on trade and economic cooperation.

The migrant and refugee crisis in Europe, as well as the developments in the Middle East and Northern Africa – these are the issues and challenges that will preoccupy is in the following years and decades - stated President Ivanov during his participation in the 7th High Level Meeting organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center – Initiative for Global Dialogue in a Multipolar World, held in the Senate of the Italian Republic.

According to the Macedonian President, the meeting was attended by a number of eminent guests, who discussed the reasons and consequences of the current situation in the abovementioned regions.

"In the presence of current and former presidents, ministers and experts on these issues, we discussed the possible future challenges, because this will preoccupy us in the years and decades to come. So far we have had different understandings and views, and this is part of the efforts of the Alliance of Civilizations to incite dialogue and discussion on all possible aspects of existing threats, as well as on all other issues that preoccupy the human civilization", said President Ivanov.

He stated that this is not only an issue of refugees in Europe, but a major movement of populations and peoples in almost all areas.

This, on the other hand, creates entirely different situations, underlined the Macedonian President – situations that were so far difficult to handle by the destination countries for migrants, trying to meet the demands of those who came to their countries due to the difficult conditions in their own homelands.
During the working visit of the Italian Republic and participation at the 7th High Level Meeting, President Ivanov was presented with a special recognition by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center for his support of their initiatives and his contribution in the area of interfaith dialogue.
 

"Interfaith dialogue that we stand for has respect as its main aim, and not overcoming tolerance.  Since the purpose of dialogue is to help us live with our deepest religious differences, without neglecting or having to overcome them", underlined President Ivanov in Rome, where he is currently participating in the 7th High Level Meeting organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center and the Italian Association for International Organizations - Initiative for Global Dialogue in a multipolar world, held in the Senate of the Italian Republic.

Prior to his address at the conference entitled "Responding to radicalization and extremism through interfaith dialogue", President Ivanov had a meeting with the President of the Italian Senate, Mr. Pietro Grasso.

In his address, the Macedonian President stated that if we wish to have peace in the world, we must build coexistence, i.e. to have mutual respect and acceptance of diversities.  The message of President Ivanov was that through sincere dialogue, we meet and respect the others.

"Instead of moving towards greater openness, promotion of human rights and freedoms, in the second decade of the 21st century, we are taking two steps back.  Towards fear and isolation, that bring even deeper divisions and greater fears", emphasized the Macedonian President, adding that united Europe today has more walls than divided Europe during the Cold War. As reasons for this situation, President Ivanov named the misuse of religion, double standards, ignoring international law as well as global disorder.

Integration through assimilation, poverty and absence of a deeper meaning and belonging present in the Western world, were also among the main reasons leading to contemporary radicalism and extremism mentioned by President Ivanov.

What makes interfaith dialogue even more difficult, stated President Ivanov, is the misuse of religion by state actors who use its power to impose acceptance of their own positions.

"On the opposite side of our commitment for unity in diversity are those who wish for unity through uniformity.  Intolerance, exclusion and racism in the world have increased by manifold.  Therefore, the need for dialogue has also increased", was one of the messages of the Macedonian President.

He stated that, instead of trying to put different religions within a frame that we have constructed, it would be much better to leave some space for the expression of diversity, whereby we would build mutual trust as equals in terms of rights and obligations.

In Macedonia, we have had centuries old coexistence between Christians, Muslims and Jews. This did not make Christians any less Christian, Muslims any less Muslim or Jews any less Jewish.   On the contrary, they all became richer with this experience, underlined President Ivanov, mentioning some of the activities that Macedonia has been implementing in the area of interfaith dialogue, both at the regional and international level.

In this context, President Ivanov informed the participants that this year, Macedonia will host the Fourth World Conference on Interreligious and Intercivilizational dialogue.

Besides the Macedonian President, the Conference is Rome was also attended by Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev, Former Italian President Giorgio Napolitano, Italian Former Foreign Minister Franco Frattini, as well as the former Presidents of Romania, Emil Constantinescu, Poland, Bronislaw Komorowski, Croatia, Ivo Josipovic and Serbia, Boris Tadic.

Tonight, the Macedonian President will attend a reception in honor of the participants, hosted by the President of the Italian Republic, Mr. Sergio Mattarella.

President Ivanov will be awarded a special recognition by the co-presidents of Nizami Ganjavi International Center, Mrs Vaira Vike - Freiberga and Mr. Ismail Serageldin.

The participation of President Ivanov at these events is a result of his dedication to the realization of the goals of the UN Alliance of Civilizations as well as the excellent cooperation with Nizami Ganjavi IC and the Italian Association for International Organizations.  Previously, the President of the Republic of Macedonia participated in the high level meetings in Baku, Sofia and Rome.
