Ten unforgettable days spend in learning, upgrading, improving, sharing and team collaboration is what the President of the Republic of Macedonia wished to the participants of the second School for Young Leaders, being held for the second time this year in Ohrid.
As initiator and patron of this educational initiative, the President, in his welcome address at the opening ceremony of the School, said that the future of Macedonia depends on the potentials of the youth in the society.
”You are already partially and in the future you will be more and more directly involved in decision making and in creation of Macedonian society. The future of our country depends on you. I would like to reiterate that we absolutely count on you, and as President, I will do my best to help you obtain further knowledge and skills and be prepared for the challenges ahead”, President Ivanov said to the 40 representatives, emerging leaders in Macedonia.
Lawyers, managers, economists, writers, publishers, political scientists, students of master or doctoral studies are the profiles of young leaders who come from all over the country, with different experiences, interests and visions for the future of their own and of their country. The goal of the School for Leaders is through lectures, practical training and simulations to help develop their capacity to cope with challenges of global technology, international competition and cultural and religious diversity. The program includes lectures and trainings in the area of leadership and management delivered by prominent lecturers and guests from the top educational and professional institutions, politicians and MPs from European countries, CEO’s of successful companies and business groups.
The intention of this School, said President Ivanov, is to gather together the creative potential of our country in different areas, professions, interests and fields of action, and to open new space for upgrading, improvement and team collaboration.
At the opening, a speech was also delivered by the Ambassador for European Affairs in the Government of the Republic of Hungary, Georg von Habsburg, son of the great Pan-European and last Hungarian heir, Otto von Habsburg. He told the young leaders that what is important is to take steps, because it doesn’t matter how long you have worked and advocated for some issues, but whether there are positive changes introduced, even for a few seconds.
”Step by step and you come closer to the goal. You will be better judged by what you do on a daily basis as a leader”, said Georg von Habsburg.
The School for Young Leaders offers and is a new page in relation to the potential young leaders and the support they receive. In this initiative of the President, the state and the business enter into partnership, and with joint efforts, aim at creating and fostering real values. Namely, the overall financial structure of the School for Young Leaders is entirely supported by private sector and business partners.
”I am particularly glad that this training is a product of the new spirit of unity, shared social responsibility towards the young leaders”, the President said.
By the end of the training, despite the current five, the participants will hear the views of another 20 lecturers at the School for Leaders on topics related to bio-politics, energy security, motivation, cultural leadership, analysis related to the growing Asian business giants, multiculturalism and multiethnic societies, debates about art and the necessity of negotiation, lobbying, the results and consequences of EU enlargement.
