The School for Young Leaders has become a recognizable brand, said the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, at the opening of the 9th School for Young Leaders, which is taking place in Struga, in the period August 20-31.
- In these nine years, we have become a recognizable brand. All these years we are creating a future for the young, but also youth for the future. Each generation learned from the previous one, and we also learned from them. Therefore every generation was offered topics that preoccupy young people, Ivanov said.
This year, he stressed, we will be talking about leadership in all spheres of everyday life that change so fast that we cannot follow them individually.
- We are committed to everything that is going on globally to convey to young people who have the desire and need of knowledge. You are here to learn and to perfect yourself. Knowledge very quickly becomes obsolete, but wisdom is eternal. Those who learn from the wise will always be able to find out solutions whatever happens, Ivanov said.
The opening of the School was addressed by the former President of Latvia, Mr. Valdis Zatlers, who told the participants that leadership is based on knowledge, experience, wisdom and creativity. - All young people, in his opinion, in our modern society, must be prepared to stand up when they fall and overcome their failures.
According to him, the most important is creativity. As he stressed, it is essential for a leader.
- You can copy everything, but with that you do not do anything new. The creativity of a leader is vital, information is knowledge without experience. Experience is what you get when you do not get what you want. It means you become experienced when you fail to succeed, said Zatlers.
The School for Young Leaders, as he stressed, is a great opportunity to share experiences and skills for new leaders. – We, who have experience with less knowledge of you, need to share our experience with you so you can receive it, said Zatlers.
