The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today Ms. Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.

At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the current political situation in the Republic of Macedonia and on the European integration process, as well as on the key challenges the region faces.

President Ivanov stressed that he will continue to support the European and Euro-Atlantic integrations of the Republic of Macedonia, which are of great importance for the prosperity of the country, but at the same time stressed that the strategic goals must not be misused at the expense of the national interests and the interests of the Macedonian people.

- My position is unchanged. Strategic goal of the Republic of Macedonia is membership in the European Union and the NATO Alliance. The EU and NATO should not be an alibi for a bad agreement that raises more issues than it closes, President Ivanov said at the meeting with Ms. Mogherini.
