In the absence of key documents, and in order to provide a wider consensus on the name issue, the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, encourages the President of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, to submit the proposal for conducting negotiations on a constitutional basis, the draft-agreement, as well as the views of the delegation on the negotiations.
The position of President Ivanov that he does not accept a solution to the name issue for overall use or erga omnes is a basic unchallengeable principle, which is in accordance with the established legal framework for conducting the talks on the name difference within the United Nations and in no case is it directed against the integration of the Republic of Macedonia into the European Union and NATO.
President Ivanov points to the need for reaching a national consensus on overcoming the name difference and finding a solution that will not violate the dignity of the Macedonian people and citizens.
