The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today the letters of credence of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Macedonia, resident in Berlin, H.E. Mr. Karunasena Hettiarachchi.

President Ivanov said that the diplomatic relations between the two countries were established two decades ago and that in the future, political dialogue and economic cooperation in all fields should be intensified, which requires institutional support.

Ambassador Hettiarachchi expressed confidence that the possibilities for enhancing the trade between the two countries will be considered in order to establish a long-term partnership that will lead to new contents of cooperation in several areas of common interest.

President Ivanov wished the newly appointed ambassador of Sri Lanka success in carrying out the responsible diplomatic duty.
