The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, in the framework of his working visit to the Republic of Turkey and his participation at the 21st Eurasian Economic Summit in Istanbul, met with the President of the Government of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Binali Yildirim.

Expressing satisfaction with the frequent contacts between the two countries at high level, the interlocutors exchanged views on the overall bilateral relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Turkey, the current situation in both countries, as well as the situation in the region.

The meeting concluded that the two countries foster traditional friendly relations and confirmed the need to deepen the economic cooperation and intensify the trade.

The Macedonian President thanked for the principled support of the Republic of Turkey for the Republic of Macedonia's membership in NATO, noting that the invitation for Macedonia's NATO membership would be an additional impetus for the reform processes in the country and would create tremendous benefits for the long-term stability and security of the region.
