Today, the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received the President of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Miro Cerar, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Macedonia.
The meeting focused on the promotion of bilateral relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Slovenia, the political developments in both countries, and exchanged views on the challenges facing the Balkan region.
President Ivanov and Prime Minister Cerar confirmed the excellent relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Slovenia, which are characterized by lasting friendship, trust and solid partnership.
Joint conclusion of the interlocutors was that in the future the efforts should be directed towards intensifying the economic cooperation and trade through closer cooperation of the business communities and encouraging mutual investments. Regarding Macedonia's Euro-Atlantic integrations, President Ivanov expressed gratitude for the ongoing continuous assistance and support from the Republic of Slovenia and voiced his expectation for even more prominent support in unblocking the Euro-Atlantic perspective of the Republic of Macedonia.
President Ivanov also stressed the importance of the joint initiative of the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Croatia, the Brdo-Brijuni Process, hosted by the Republic of Macedonia this month as an opportunity for an open dialogue on all issues that are important for the countries of the region and for strengthening the regional cooperation.
President Ivanov and Prime Minister Cerar exchanged views on the challenges of illegal migration, emphasizing the necessity for the successful cooperation established between the competent institutions to continue in the future in order to achieve greater regional stability and security.
