The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today Mr. Henrik Hololei, Director General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission.

At the meeting, they exchanged views on the possibilities for greater cooperation and support from the European Union in the area of ​​transport connectivity and inclusion of the Republic of Macedonia in the European infrastructure projects.

At the meeting, President Ivanov reaffirmed the strategic goals of the Republic of Macedonia for membership in the European Union and stressed the need for greater economic and transport connectivity.

"In order to be equally included in the European economic area, we must be an equal part of the European road, rail and energy corridors. We expect the EU to include Macedonia on the map of major European infrastructure projects", the Macedonian President said at the meeting.

President Ivanov added that economic, transport and digital connectivity will help our companies be more competitive on the global market, and make the entire region more attractive for direct foreign investment as it will increase the competitiveness of the economies of the region.
