The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, on the occasion of November 22, the Day of the Albanian Alphabet, sent a congratulation message to the members of the Albanian ethnic community in the Republic of Macedonia.

Respected fellow citizens,

It gives me special honor and pleasure to congratulate you November 22, the Day of the Albanian Alphabet.

Thanks to the Congress held in Bitola, 103 years ago, the Albanian people finally reached their goal, with huge efforts invested - a unified alphabet, and thus opened a new chapter in their national and cultural development.

On this occasion, I would like to convey a message to you and to all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia that the alphabets and the language are the fundamental elements of national identification, but also a bridge for coexistence, mutual understanding and tolerance. Exactly these are the basic pillars of the Macedonian society, and, hence the Day of the Albanian Alphabet is important for all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia.

I am strongly convinced that in future, the members of the Albanian community in the Republic of Macedonia, with their rich tradition and culture, will continue to contribute to a prosperous future and welfare of all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia.
