The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, on the occasion of the National Day of Romania, sent congratulation note to the President of Romania, Mr. Traian Basescu.

Distinguished Mr. President,
Dear Friend,

It gives me great pleasure, on the occasion of the National Day of Romania, on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia and on my personal behalf, to extend my cordial regards and sincere wishes for further prosperity of your country and welfare of its citizens.

Distinguished Mr. President, I avail my self of this opportunity to renew my satisfaction with the permanent deepening of bilateral relations and cooperation, as well as with the continuing political dialogue between the Republic of Macedonia and Romania.

The Republic of Macedonia and I, personally, particularly appreciate Romania's support of my country's path to full integration into the Euro-Atlantic structures. I believe that such support will be present in the coming critical period, before the European Council meeting, when, hopefully, a date for starting accession negotiations with the European Union will be set.

Please accept, Mr. President, the warm and cordial greetings from the Republic of Macedonia and the assurances of my highest consideration.
