Meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Sali Berisha

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge  Ivanov today (November 9) received the President of the Government of the Republic of Albania, Dr. Sali Berisha.

At the meeting, President Ivanov and Prime Minister Berisha discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries. The two interlocutors assessed that Macedonia and Albania maintain close and friendly relations and that this cooperation serves as an example in the region.

President Ivanov and Prime Minister Berisha said that Macedonia and Albania share a common strategic goal for Euro-Atlantic integration. It was stressed that concrete steps between the countries from the region for facilitated movement of people and trade exchange is a vital preparation for the functioning of the region as part of a united Europe.

Both interlocutors particularly discussed the need for further infrastructure and energy connectivity, improved border infrastructure and all other measures that will contribute to further increased volume of trade exchange. President Ivanov and Prime Minister Berisha also underlined the importance of joint actions of the states of the region on projects of mutual interest, such as connecting the Adriatic-Ionian highway with Corridors 8 and 10.
