The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov received today the Letters of Credence of the newly accredited Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Macedonia, Przemyslav Szyz.

At the meeting with Ambassador Szyz, President Ivanov expressed satisfaction with the current development of the friendly relations between both countries and the fruitful political dialogue, emphasizing that there is huge potential for further expansion of the overall cooperation, especially in the sphere of economy.

President Ivanov stressed that the Republic of Poland is one of the most important partners of our country, and that we cherish traditional relations of friendship. The support for Macedonia’s membership into the European Union and NATO, as well as the position to use the constitutional name of the state is highly appreciated by the Macedonian citizens. The President expressed his expectation that the Republic of Poland, during its EU Presidency, will help a date for starting negotiations be set at the December’s meeting of the European Council, stressing that the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia expect equal and fair treatment, and that integration is allowed in parallel with the process of resolving bilateral issues.

”I expect this support to continue in the upcoming crucial period before the European Council meeting in December. The Republic of Macedonia is encouraged by the commitment of the Polish Presidency for accelerated integration of Western Balkan countries. The process of European integration is one of the key integration factors and a driving force of the reform processes, thus it enjoys absolute political, ethnic and social consensus”, President Ivanov said.

Ambassador Szyz conveyed President Ivanov the Polish position and the attitude that the Republic of Macedonia can always count on Poland’s support. Ambassador Szyz stressed that he will continue to fully support the efforts of the country for its European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Both interlocutors exchanged information on the development and improvement of the investment and the overall business climate in the country and the opportunities for future Polish investments.
