Meeting with Albanian President, Bamir Topi and with Montenegrin President, Filip Vujanovic

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov today had a meeting with the President of the Republic of Albania, Bamir Topi and with the President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanovic.

President Ivanov extended his warm welcome and expressed his gratitude to his guests on their presence at the opening of the Holocaust Memorial Centre of the Jews of Macedonia, adding that in the region of South-East Europe the memories of the destructive power of human hatred are still alive. Therefore, President Ivanov expressed his satisfaction with the presence of President Topi and President Vujanovic which shows that a new Balkans is being built in which different nations may live in peace and mutual respect.

At the meeting, the three Presidents had an opportunity to discuss the political situation in the region. The three Presidents concluded that resumption and completion of the Euro-Atlantic integration processes is necessary for sustaining the prosperity of all countries in the region. The leaders of these three countries expressed readiness to continue the cooperation in respect of the integration processes, being aware that the success of one country would bring all other countries closer to the common goal. High level of mutual relations and readiness for further boosting of the relations and cooperation was reaffirmed. The talks also focused on the forthcoming, third in a row, meeting of the Presidents of Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro, scheduled for July 2011, hosted by the Republic of Macedonia. Perspectives for cooperation in other regional initiatives were considered, such as the Cooperation Process and the Adriatic – Ionian initiative etc.

President Ivanov, President Topi and President Vujanovic at the meeting addressed many initiatives for infrastructure connections, reduction of obstacles for exchange among the three countries as well as projects of common interest. They all concurred that concrete steps are necessary for the establishment of a united region in the untied Europe.
