The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, marking the national holiday, October 23, the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle, sent a congratulation note to the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia.
Respected citizens,
On this day, 120 years ago, six Macedonian visionaries led by the motto "Death or Freedom for Macedonia", with passion and determination, started spreading the idea for establishment of their own, independent state. These ideals became guiding ideals of the Macedonian citizens, crown of the revolutionary movement for sharing a common idea of unity, determination and legacy for the future generations.
United in victories and defeats, aspiring and hoping for establishment of a free and independent Macedonian state, we praise the courage and achievements of the Macedonian revolutionaries, who have created, wholeheartedly, the eternal ideal for one and only Macedonia.
Our duty and covenant is to preserve diligently the ideals of the followers of the Macedonian revolutionary struggle, who have created, through the Krushevo Republic and ASNOM, the democratic, legal, strong and modern Republic of Macedonia.
Dear all,
The vision of the six activists who have created on this day the first Macedonian organization is celebrated as national holiday of independent, sovereign, democratic and European Macedonia. Proud of the past, decisively and jointly we walk to the future ready for new challenges. It is our obligation and duty to pay respect to the generations before us and to continue the path that leads to a strong and prosperous Republic of Macedonia.
Macedonian nation is one and unique, regardless of religion, ethnicity or political affiliation. October 23 is a day that unites many generations, fathers, sons and daughters, all with the same historical mission for joyful and united European Macedonia.
Long live the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle!
Dr. Gjorge Ivanov
