Congratulation message on the occasion of October 11, the Day of the National Uprising in Macedonia

altThe President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, on the occasion of October 11, the Day of the National Uprising in the Republic of Macedonia, sent a congratulation message to the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia.

Respected citizens,

Today, with distinct pride, we celebrate the day of the national uprising, October 11. 71 year ago, the Macedonian citizens, along with the other righteous and democratic world, stood against fascism as the greatest evil of humanity, confirming its libertarian traditions. The commencement of the uprising was followed by a long and hard struggle for ultimate liberation which culminated in the First ASNOM Assembly, when the foundations of the independent Republic of Macedonia were laid.

The celebration of October 11 is yet another opportunity to remember and extend our thankfulness to all known and unknown heroes of the National Liberation War, who gave their lives for Macedonia’s freedom. Thanks to them, today we can freely, on our own, build and decide on our future.

Let us recall once again on this bright holiday that Macedonia was, is and will always be on the side of progress, democracy and freedom. Hence, our membership and affiliation in the Euro-Atlantic structures, as benchmarks for today’s progressive world is quite natural and deserved.

Dear citizens, I congratulate you this holiday.
Long live the democratic, free and sovereign Republic of Macedonia!

Dr. Gjorge Ivanov
