The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, on the occasion of the commemoration of the attacks of September 11, 2001, sent a letter to the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama.

Honorable Mr. President,
Marking the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001, that shocked your Great Nation as well as all freedom-loving nations around the world, please allow me, on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia as well as on my personal behalf, to express our sorrow for the great human losses that your country and the friendly American people suffered.

11 years after the terrorist attacks, the free world, refusing to live in fear from this evil of our times, has created a unified front in the fight against international terrorism. Based on the noble mission for protection of liberty, democracy and human rights as our shared values, the strategic partnership of the Republic of Macedonia with the United States of America is continuously being enhanced.

Remembering with sorrow the victims, their close ones and every mournful family in the United States of America, I want to assure you, Mr. President that the Republic of Macedonia, as a faithful and proven friend and partner of your Great Nation, will continue to support American efforts for defending freedom, democracy and human rights in the world with the same determination as before.

Please, Honorable President, accept the assurances of my highest consideration.

Dr. Gjorge Ivanov
