The President of the Republic of Macedonia Dr. Gjorge Ivanov sent a greeting letter to Israeli President Shimon Peres on the occasion of the Independence Day of the State of Israel:

Distinguished Mr. President,

It is a great pleasure, on the occasion of the Independence Day of the State of Israel, on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia, as well as on my personal behalf, to extend cordial greetings and sincere wishes for prosperity of your country and wellbeing of its citizens.

I avail myself of this solemn occasion to express satisfaction with the positive development of relations and cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the State of Israel, as well as our personal friendship and cooperation. I am convinced that our relations will continue to thrive in the future in the spirit of friendship and mutual support. Relations that are based on the centuries-old recognition and understanding between our friendly people.
