The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, on the occasion of Ramadan fasting, sent a congratulation message to the Riaset of the Islamic Religious Community in the Republic of Macedonia.

Dear Reis ul Ulema Hadzi Sulejman Efendi Rexhepi,

I avail myself of this opportunity, on my personal behalf and on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia, to congratulate the start of the Ramadan fasting to you, to the Riaset of the Islamic Religious Community and to all citizens of Islamic religion in the Republic of Macedonia, wishing peace, health and welfare. May you all spend the holidays in the spirit and tradition of your faith.

Cooperation and cohabitation are the foundation of our society and as such they are an example for the whole world. I am strongly convinced that in future, the Islamic Religious Community will continue its activity that contribute the Republic of Macedonia to be an example of peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding and respect for all citizens regardless of their ethnic and religious affiliation.

May the holy month of Ramadan be filled with joy, harmony, virtue and solidarity.

The President of the Republic of Macedonia Dr. Gjorge Ivanov on the occasion of the 2nd August 2011 - National Day of the Republic, pardoned 85 convicted persons: complete amnesty for 19 convicted persons, and 66 partial exemptions from further prison sentences serving.

Following the tragic events in Norway, the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov sent a letter of condolences to His Majesty Harald V, King of Norway

Your Majesty,

With profound sorrow I received the news of this inexplicable act of violence in Osno, and I am deeply saddened for the loss of lives in this great tragedy.

In these moments of sorrow for you, for the citizens of your country and the families of the victims, allow me, on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia and on my personal behalf, I convey to you heartfelt condolences. I wish to assure you that the Macedonian citizens are with you.

The President of the Republic of Macedonia Dr. Gjorge Ivanov today in Ohrid has received for the second time the leaders of the political parties’ youth organizations, which have been present at the first meeting with the President in view of the early parliamentary elections held in June 2011.

The initiative for this recurrent meeting was raised during the first talks, when President Ivanov called the young leaders to develop political dialogue and actively contribute to the conduction of fair, democratic and peaceful elections without violence or irregularities.

The aim of this second meeting with the political parties’ youth representatives was, above all, to jointly assess the way the elections were conducted and how the young political leaders have contributed to their success. They have presented to the President their experiences from the election campaign, the challenges they have faced on the field, as well as their general impression regarding the election process.

“In conditions of democracy, elections come and end, and they legitimate those who take responsibility for the country. All of us should take part in affirming and promoting Republic of Macedonia as a country that is a home of talented and skilled young people, who possess great capacity and potential and who are prepared to take over the responsibility for the future of their homeland through practicing public decency,” President Ivanov said. He also underlined that the young and open political thought that strives toward improvements and changes which are key for the democratic and political stability and development of Republic of Macedonia will always have his full support.

Having in sight the need for constant strengthening of the public and the political awareness among the youth, President Ivanov has once again highlighted his support for these meetings to become tradition, when the young political leaders will take over the responsibility to maintain regular meetings among each other.
 

The President of Republic of Macedonia Dr. Gjorge Ivanov today received a group of families’ representatives of the persons that have disappeared during the armed conflict in 2011, having the opportunity to hear their thoughts and arguments.

At the meeting, President Ivanov expressed his deep condolences for the pain and suffering the families have gone through. The President appealed to all political factors to refrain from mistreatment of the hard position that the families of the civil victims from the 2001 conflict are in.
 

On the occasion of July 14th, Bastille Day, the national holiday of the French Republic, the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov sent a message to the President of the Frnch Republic, Nikolas Sarkozy.

Distinguished Mr. President,

On the occasion of Bastille Day, the national holiday of the French Republic, on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia and on my personal behalf, to you personally and to all citizens of your country, I extend cordial congratulations and sincere wishes for prosperity of your country and welfare of the friendly people of France.

The importance of July 14th, 1789, for France and for Europe and the world is huge. We celebrate the ideals of the French Revolution - liberty, equality, fraternity, as well as the ideals outlined in the Declaration on the Rights of Man and Citizen - freedom, right to property, security, right to fight oppression. Ideals which in continuity inspire people and nations worldwide, aspiring towards attaining natural rights of man. Ideals which two decades ago were met by the Republic of Macedonia.

I avail myself of this solemn occasion to express satisfaction with the current development of the relations which are advancing and upgrading in the spirit of the common commitments to democratic, stable, united and prosperous Europe.

Remembering the visionary words of the great Frenchman and European Jean Monnet – “To build Europe is to build peace” - I assure you, Mr. President, that the Republic of Macedonia and its citizens remain committed to fulfilling the centuries-old dream for European and Euro-Atlantic Macedonia. I would like to take this solemn occasion to express my gratitude for your country’s support to the Republic of Macedonia in this regard, and to emphasize my deep conviction and expectation that it will continue in the coming period.

On this note, with sincere wishes for further success in your work, good health and personal happiness, I convey to you the assurances of my highest consideration.
