The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, sent a letter of congratulations to the Hungarian President-Elect, Janos Ader:

Distinguished Mr. President,
It gives me distinct honor and pleasure to convey my most heartfelt congratulations on your election as President of Hungary. I avail myself of this solemn occasion to extend sincere wishes for successful execution of this high and responsible office, good health and personal happiness.

Taking this solemn opportunity, I would like to express my satisfaction with the high level of traditionally friendly relations between the Republic of Macedonia and Hungary and to convey my conviction that, with our joint efforts, we will be able to contribute to further promotion of the relations in all areas of mutual interest. I believe that in the coming period I will have the opportunity to welcome you in the Republic of Macedonia and thus we will give a strong impulse for further deepening of the established cooperation. Be assured that we consider friendly Hungary as a sincere partner in the field of European and Euro-Atlantic integrations.

I want to assure you Mr. President that the Macedonian citizens remain committed to attaining the centuries-old dream of European and Euro-Atlantic Macedonia. Having this in mind, I would like to express my gratitude for your country’s support to the Republic of Macedonia in this regard and to express my strong conviction and expectation that it will continue in the period to come, particularly before and during the NATO Summit in Chicago, and the upcoming European Council meetings.

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, today received the letters of credence by the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Macedonia, H.E. Mr. Ivan Velikov-Petkov.

President Ivanov, wishing the newly appointed Bulgarian Ambassador to the Republic of Macedonia welcome, expressed hope that Ambassador Petkov will give a strong contribution to the further improvement of relations between these two countries. I believe that in the period ahead we will continue to strengthen and deepen the political dialogue and the established bilateral cooperation, we will introduce new contents in the spirit of friendship, good neighborly relations and mutual understanding, President Ivanov said.

As two neighboring countries that share common values, strategic goals and are committed to cooperation and development of the region, President Ivanov expressed his expectation that the Republic of Bulgaria will still be a strong supporter and partner of Macedonia’s integrations, and that the support will be confirmed at the upcoming NATO Summit in Chicago.

In the interest of facilitating and promoting economic cooperation, Macedonian President said that both countries should focus on infrastructure and energy connectivity, greater cross-border cooperation and joint participation in utilization of European funds.

Ambassador Petkov expressed expectation that the Republic of Macedonia will succeed in achieving substantial progress in the integration processes, stressing that in this regard the Republic of Bulgaria will continue its political support. Initiation of new projects that will provide concrete results and will facilitate the integration processes will be part of the commitments of Ambassador Petkov.

Extending cordial regards to his Bulgarian counterpart, President Rosen Plevneliev, President Ivanov expressed his expectation that in the interest of good neighborly relations, stability and prosperity of our region, the meeting at the highest political level between the two countries will continue in the future.




Support for full integration of Western Balkans - Meeting with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Necas

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov met today with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Necas, who is paying an official visit to the Republic of Macedonia.

It was reaffirmed at the meeting that both countries have traditionally good and friendly relations, and the intensive political dialogue was greeted, which in recent years is characterized by a number of meetings of high officials of the Republic of Macedonia and of the Czech Republic.

President Ivanov expressed his gratitude for the support that the Czech Republic gives regarding the integration of the Republic of Macedonia into the European Union and NATO, and expressed expectation that it will continue in the upcoming, extremely important period for the Republic of Macedonia. The President briefed the Czech Prime Minister with Macedonia’s continuous efforts in meeting strategic foreign policy objectives, the reform process and expressed hope that soon these efforts will result in NATO and the European Union membership.

Moreover, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic was informed on the decision of the International Court of Justice, which is a confirmation of the correctly policy of the Republic of Macedonia. President Ivanov once again stressed that Macedonia has every right to expect and require Greece to consistently respect the decision of the Court and the Interim Agreement, and expressed hope that it will be taken into consideration at the upcoming NATO Summit in Chicago, as well as when making decisions in future on Macedonia by the European Union.

Prime Minister Necas noted that of particular importance for the Czech Republic is the integration of Western Balkans, especially Macedonia’s integration into the European Union and NATO, recalling the expressed support at the Summit in Bucharest. He emphasized the importance of full integration of Western Balkans, which would mean expanding the zone of stability and security, and stressed that the Republic of Macedonia continues to enjoy support from the Czech Republic.

During the talks, mutual satisfaction was expressed with the increased trade cooperation and improved economic relations boosted with several initiated projects between the Republic of Macedonia and some Czech companies. As a confirmation of the good relations, the naming of the “Macedonian Street” in the center of Prague was mentioned, and the opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Macedonia in Hradec Kralove.

In terms of bilateral relations, both interlocutors expressed hope that soon the problems with the Macedonian language department in Prague will be overcome.



Congratulation message to the members of the Macedonian Army on the occasion of the Christian holiday – Easter

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, sent a congratulation message to the members of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia of Christian religion, on the occasion of Christ’s Resurrection - Easter:

As Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Macedonia, I have the honor and pleasure, to all members of the Army of Christian religion, to congratulate the great holiday, the Resurrection of Christ - Easter.

The holiest holiday of all - Easter is a holiday of life and giving, of faith and commitment. Hence, faith, courage and dedication are features of the Macedonian soldier who diligently serves his country.

Let me emphasize in this message the importance of your professional engagement, proving that you are equally successfully trained to perform the primary mission of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia – to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Macedonia, and to carry out missions abroad, thousands of kilometers away from your homeland, where the Macedonian peacekeepers proudly mount the Macedonian flag. With your full commitment to the assignments, often being at high risk, you have demonstrated courage and bravery, and thus gained high ratings and reputation internationally.

I would like to stress that the continuous support you provide for the state institutions, local self-governments, associations and other organizations in the Republic of Macedonia, showed that the Army is always present and serves its citizens.

I sincerely wish you good health, happiness and success.
