The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, met today Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama.

The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, whereas common conclusion is that the political relations mark positive development trend, with continuous and fruitful political dialogue and that the two countries should focus on the opportunities for economic cooperation enhancement in future.

"Political relations between our countries have reached a level that allows us to fully focus on what is most important to the welfare of our citizens, to the economy, investment, infrastructure and energy connectivity, cross-border cooperation, tourism etc. These are areas that we need to focus our overall energy", President Ivanov said at the meeting, stressing the need for expedite completion of the Adriatic-Ionian highway and its connection to Corridor 8.

President Ivanov praised the cooperation between the two governments and expressed hope for its intensification, aimed at determining projects of common interest.

In terms of our common strategic goal - membership in the European Union, the meeting confirmed mutual support for a faster integration of both countries in the EU. With regard to NATO, the President of the Albanian Government, Mr. Rama, reiterated the commitment of the Republic of Albania for Republic of Macedonia's membership in NATO. President Ivanov expressed his gratitude for the given support and expressed hope that it will continue in the future.

Both interlocutors expressed readiness to promote good neighborly relations and enhance regional cooperation.

President Ivanov receives credentials of newly appointed ambassadors of the Slovak Republic and the Kingdom of Morocco

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today the Letters of Credence of the newly appointed ambassadors of the Slovak Republic and the Kingdom of Morocco to the Republic of Macedonia.

At the ceremony of presenting the letters of credence by the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic, H.E. Mr. Martin Bezak, President Ivanov congratulated the appointment of the first resident Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the Republic of Macedonia, and wished him success in the execution of the responsible mission.

The Republic of Macedonia and the Slovak Republic, as stressed at the meeting, share traditionally good and friendly relations and expectation was expressed for further promotion of the political dialogue at the highest level and intensification of the relations, particularly in the economic sphere.

"I would like to renew our gratitude for all the support from your country so far, and especially for the support of the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of the Republic of Macedonia. The huge economic and overall social progress of the Slovak Republic and of the other Central European countries in the last two decades will continue to be an inspiration for the Republic of Macedonia, in terms of building a prosperous state, and in terms of its full accession into the Euro-Atlantic integration processes", President Ivanov said in his address.

"I assure you that during my diplomatic mission in your country I will do everything to strengthen and promote the friendly relations and cooperation between the Slovak Republic and the Republic of Macedonia in all areas of mutual interest for the benefit of the citizens of both countries", Ambassador Bezak said in his address.

At the meeting with the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, H.E. Mrs. Latifa Akharbach, President Ivanov congratulated on her appointment and expressed his expectation for continuation of the successful political dialogue and interest for more comprehensive development and improvement of mutual relations.

"I believe there is potential in our two countries to enhance the cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, in particular for increasing the economic cooperation and trade exchange. This, however, requires further strengthening of the legal framework and I hope that all arrangements that have already been agreed will soon be signed", President Ivanov said in his address.

The new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, Mrs. Akharbach, stressing that she is honored to be accredited as ambassador to a country with is well-known for its rich cultural and historical heritage, said that she will be committed to promoting bilateral relations and cooperation in all fields of mutual interest.

The Kingdom of Morocco believes in Macedonia's European perspective and considers that your country will have an important added-value to the European Union. As Morocco enjoys an advanced status in its relations with the Union, your adhesion will open for sure new horizons for our bilateral relations", the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco said in her address.

Congratulation note by President Ivanov on the occasion of October 23, the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, marking the national holiday, October 23, the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle, sent a congratulation note to the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia.

Respected citizens,

On this day, 120 years ago, six Macedonian visionaries led by the motto "Death or Freedom for Macedonia", with passion and determination, started spreading the idea for establishment of their own, independent state. These ideals became guiding ideals of the Macedonian citizens, crown of the revolutionary movement for sharing a common idea of unity, determination and legacy for the future generations.

United in victories and defeats, aspiring and hoping for establishment of a free and independent Macedonian state, we praise the courage and achievements of the Macedonian revolutionaries, who have created, wholeheartedly, the eternal ideal for one and only Macedonia.

Our duty and covenant is to preserve diligently the ideals of the followers of the Macedonian revolutionary struggle, who have created, through the Krushevo Republic and ASNOM, the democratic, legal, strong and modern Republic of Macedonia.

Dear all,

The vision of the six activists who have created on this day the first Macedonian organization is celebrated as national holiday of independent, sovereign, democratic and European Macedonia. Proud of the past, decisively and jointly we walk to the future ready for new challenges. It is our obligation and duty to pay respect to the generations before us and to continue the path that leads to a strong and prosperous Republic of Macedonia.

Macedonian nation is one and unique, regardless of religion, ethnicity or political affiliation. October 23 is a day that unites many generations, fathers, sons and daughters, all with the same historical mission for joyful and united European Macedonia.

Long live the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle!
