The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today Ms. Louisa Vinton, new United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP and UNFPA Representative to the Republic of Macedonia.
President Ivanov welcomed Ms. Vinton and expressed expectation that the successful cooperation with the UNDP will continue in the future by implementing ongoing and future projects in the interest of the state and its citizens.

The UN Resident Coordinator, Ms. Vinton, commended President Ivanov's commitment to the topics of interest to the United Nations and expressed readiness for constructive cooperation with all Macedonian institutions, as well as for expansion of the support in the future.

The Macedonian President expressed his expectation that the United Nations Millennium Development Goals pertaining to the Republic of Macedonia will be successfully implemented, as well as the objectives in the areas identified in the 2010 - 2015 Action Plan, which, among the other things, are important in terms of bringing the country closer to the EU standards.

At the meeting, President Ivanov stressed the achievements of the Republic of Macedonia in the field of disaster risk reduction and adaptation to climate change and environmental protection, which is largely due to the UNDP involvement and implementation of projects.

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today, in a farewell meeting, H.E. Mr. Washington Luis Pereira de Sousa Neto, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil.

At the meeting, President Ivanov expressed his gratitude for the diplomatic mission of Ambassador de Sousa Neto and his expectation that the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries will further flourish in all areas of mutual interest.

In that context, President Ivanov expressed interest in improving the economic cooperation and increasing trade exchange, as well as in attracting Brazilian investment in the Republic of Macedonia.

Commending the good cooperation between the two countries at multilateral level, President Ivanov expressed his expectation for future cooperation and mutual support within the international organizations.

At the meeting, the two interlocutors exchanged views and information on the latest developments in the two countries, in the region and in Latin America.

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, in the wake of the Day of the Albanian Alphabet, November 22, received students from primary schools "Bratsvo Migjeni", Tetovo, "Dituria", Lipkovo, "25th May", Gazi Baba, and "Dituria", Saraj.

On the occasion of November 22nd, the Day of the Albanian Alphabet, the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, sent a congratulation message to the Albanian ethnical community.

Marking the Day of the Albanian Alphabet in the Republic of Macedonia, we reaffirm our shared commitment to respect and promote ethnical and cultural diversity and the spiritual wealth in the country.

Alphabet and language are fundamental elements of national identification, cultural features and differences, as well as obligation for mutual understanding, tolerance and coexistence.
Albanian language is inseparable part of the linguistic and cultural heritage of the Republic of Macedonia. Nurturing the tradition and culture contributes for a prosperous future and welfare of all citizens. Respect of ethnical and cultural coexistence is our vow that we are proud of. In the Republic of Macedonia ethnic, national, religious and cultural differences are fostered. That is, indeed, the formula of the uniqueness and essence of the universal values that we are building with centuries and are pillar of the future.

Creating shared future is possible only by respecting and understanding diversity. Therefore, we are proud of the ethnic and linguistic diversity. Therefore, celebrating the Day of the Albanian Alphabet we celebrate the unification and approximation of the two cultures that have lived together for centuries.

On this occasion, I address all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia that the model of the future starts with respect of all communities in the country, with strengthening and promotion of the interpersonal relations, tolerance and coexistence that make us stronger in dealing with the challenges and oblige us to respect diversity and meaning of the language and tradition.

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjroge Ivanov, in a farewell meeting, received today H.E. Ms. Helena Studdert, Ambassador of the Commonwealth of Australia.

At the meeting, President Ivanov expressed satisfaction with the current cooperation with Ambassador Studdert and wished her success in her future career.

Both interlocutors agreed that bilateral relations between the two countries are friendly and mark continuous positive development. In terms of future cooperation, the Macedonian President expressed interest and willingness to further intensify the political dialogue at all levels, including the highest, and the need to focus attention in the coming period on increasing economic cooperation, trade and attracting Australian investments in the Republic of Macedonia.

President Ivanov said that the large Macedonian community in Australia is the bridge that will always connect the two countries and is a major asset to further develop and deepen relations.

At the meeting, they exchanged views and information on the strategic goals of the Republic of Macedonia and on the current developments in both countries.

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today Ms. Evelyn N. Farkas, United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense.

President Ivanov praised the cooperation in the defense sector between the two countries and expressed satisfaction with the overall support that the Army of the Republic of Macedonian receives from the United States, both in terms of financial, as well as practical and technical support, through participation in joint trainings, exercises and missions. Also at the meeting, they exchanged views on the prospects for further deepening of the defense cooperation and welcomed the initiative on trilateral partnership between the armies of the Republic of Macedonia, Vermont and Senegal.

The Republic of Macedonia is grateful for the friendship, help and support it receives from the US since the first days of independence to date, especially for the efforts and support in the attainment of our strategic goals. You can always consider the Republic of Macedonia a sincere friend and partner", President Ivanov said.

At the meeting with Ms. Farkas, who is also Senior Advisor to the NATO Commander for Europe and the Special Adviser for the Secretary of Defense for NATO Summit, President Ivanov stressed the expectation that in the wake of the next NATO Summit, the US support will continue, so that the Republic of Macedonia can take its rightful place in the Alliance.

Both interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the level of political relations between the two countries and agreed that military cooperation and cooperation between the security services are extremely important segments in the overall cooperation and partnership.

The Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense expressed appreciation for the overall engagement of the Macedonian Army in peacekeeping missions. "The United States will, as before, support the country's strategic commitment to full integration into the Euro-Atlantic structures", Farkas said.

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today in a farewell meeting the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the Republic of Macedonia, H.E. Arben Cejku.

At the meeting, the two interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the overall development of the bilateral relations which are marked in continuity with positive and upward trend, and expressed confidence that the political and economic relations in the coming period will be further boosted and promoted.

President Ivanov expressed satisfaction that the two countries share identical vision and priorities for the future, such as fostering good neighborly relations, regional cooperation and mutual support and cooperation in the Euro-Atlantic integrations.

Ambassador Cejku extended his gratitude for the hospitality shown during his tenure and expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with all Macedonian institutions.
