The President of the Republic of Macedonia Dr. Gjorge Ivanov sent a letter with expressions of condolences to the President of the Russian Federation Mr. Dmitry Medvedev, on the occasion of the terrorist attacks that happened in two separate explosions in metro stations in Moscow.

In the letter, President Ivanov, on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia and on his personal behalf, expressed deep condolences to President Medvedev, the Russian Federation and the friendly Russian people and condemned strongly these criminal and cowardly attacks directed towards innocent people.
- Terrorism and its threats do not recognize borders and therefore I consider that joint and global efforts must be undertaken to combat them effectively . Our obligation is to ensure and guarantee our citizens more secure present and future. Only with coordinated, joint and collective efforts and commitment we can achieve this goal, is written in the letter from President Ivanov to President Medvedev.

 Dear Mr. President,

I am writing to thank you for the additional soldiers and trainers the Republic of Macedonia plans to send to Afghanistan. With this contribution, the Republic of Macedonia is now one of the highest per capita troop contributors to ISAF. We wish your contingent continued success in its mission.

We appreciate your country’s continuing partnership in responding to our common challenges, not only in Afghanistan, but in other places around the world, including in Bosnia and Iraq. We continue to urge you to work through the UN process to resolve the name issue as soon as possible so that your country can move ahead in realizing its Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. George Ivanov today (March 26th) met the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Dr. Ahmet Davutoglu.

During the pleasant talks, after the recent meetings between President Ivanov and Minister Davutoglu in Munich and Kiev, the good cooperation between the two countries was highlighted, raised at the level of strategic partnership on the Balkans. President Ivanov stressed that the cooperation between the two countries, which is an example for all countries from the region and Europe, should be constantly deepened and promoted in all spheres. Ivanov stressed that the good relations between the two countries are determined by the principles of peaceful settlement of disputes by political means, observance of ethnic and cultural coexistence, economic interdependence and guaranteed security for all states, principles and vision set out during previous meetings of the two interlocutors.

          Minister Davutoglu, in turn, said that he considers every success of the Republic of Macedonia as success of Turkey. The Minister said that apart from geopolitical, the Republic of Macedonia is an extremely important country at geo-cultural level. According to the Minister, the Republic of Macedonia has a model of integration that should be an example not only for the region but also beyond. Minister Davutoglu underlined that the Republic of Turkey has always supported and will support Republic of Macedonia's progress, emphasizing here the strong support for full-fledged membership of Macedonia into NATO.

 At the meeting several areas of cooperation between the two countries were considered, such as economic investments, cultural and trade exchange.
