Meeting with Mr. Frank Heemskerk, Executive Director at the World Bank

prm_svetska_banka_3The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, met today with Mr. Frank Heemskerk, Executive Director at the World Bank.
 

At the meeting they exchanged views and information on the cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the World Bank in the implementation of projects and programs supported by the World Bank. In this regard, President Ivanov stressed the importance of the projects and programs of the World Bank aimed at boosting economic growth and development of the country.
 

Referring to the current political situation in the country, President Ivanov said that the holding credible elections will be an additional incentive for the continuation of reforms in the country, the restoration of political stability, increased activities towards EU and NATO integration of the Republic of Macedonia, as well as further incentive for greater growth and development of the Macedonian economy.
 

President Ivanov and Mr. Heemskerk exchanged views on the role of the Republic of Macedonia in the implementation of the “Ideas for Action” initiative as a practical implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. A key role in the implementation of the initiative played the School for Young Leaders, held at the initiative of President Ivanov, where 40 innovative ideas were developed that will be part of the competition “Ideas for Action” 2016/17. In this regard, President Ivanov pointed out that the participants of the School developed projects for sustainable development, promotion of public administration, infrastructure, education and health issues, to increase employment and reduce poverty, which will be communicated to all stakeholders for a more successful development and implementation.
