The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received representatives of Polio Plus, civic association, headed by the President of the association, Zvonko Shavreski.

The reason for the meeting was the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Polio Plus as well as the upcoming celebration of December 3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

At the meeting, the representatives of Polio Plus briefed President Ivanov on the activities of their organization and on the current problems faced by persons with disabilities, with special emphasis on the process of ratifying the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

President Ivanov expressed support for the ongoing activities of Polio Plus and stressed that, as President, he absolutely supports ratification of the convention.

President Ivanov stressed that he would exert his authority in order to further improve the rights of persons with disabilities both by adopting legislation and through its consistent implementation.
