“It is time to use the right words to describe the situation. The Republic of Macedonia is the victim of indecision of the European Council, of the decisions of some who did not think of the consequences thereof. Current conditions largely result of excessive holding of Macedonia in the waiting room. I am not looking for an alibi for the situation in our country, we have guilt as well, said President Ivanov at the session “Balkan Chessboard: Europe Whole and Free at Stake”, which ended late last evening, within the Security Forum held in Bratislava. President Ivanov reminded that the Republic of Macedonia has received six positive recommendations for EU membership, and with 16 NATO Membership Action Plans, as he said, the Macedonian Army is tested the most in the human history. “In times of crisis and such conditions, there has to be an alternative model of making decisions. There is a lack of solidarity in terms of support for integration of the region, a lack of cooperation and trust between the security services in the region. The overall trust built for years, because of the absence of cooperation of Kosovo, and of other services as well, is at stake”, President Ivanov said, among the other things. During the participation at the Global Security Forum, President Ivanov, in Bratislava, met with the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Bronislaw Komorowski.
At the meeting, they exchanged views and information on the current political and economic situation in both countries, as well as on the overall political and security situation in the region, including the Republic of Macedonia. President Ivanov expressed gratitude for the support from the Republic of Poland in the implementation of the strategic goals of the Republic of Macedonia for membership in the European Union and NATO. The Republic of Macedonia and its citizens highly appreciate your personal support and the support of Poland, President Ivanov said. President Ivanov met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Miroslav Lajcak, and concluded that the bilateral relations between Macedonia and Slovakia are excellent.
President Ivanov briefed at the meeting on the political and security situation in the Republic of Macedonia, and they exchanged views on the general situation in the region of Southeastern Europe, and on the Euro-Atlantic integration processes. Minister Lajcak stressed that Slovakia is well aware of the consequences of the too long status quo in the integration and that, as before, the Republic of Macedonia can count on the support of his country.
