On the occasion of the great Christian holiday of St. Athanasius, the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, visited the church "St. Athanasius" in Tetovo.

In the church, the Metropolitan of Tetovo and Gostivar Diocese, Josif, led the holy liturgy together with several priests from the churches in the Tetovo region.

The holy bread was also consecrated during the ceremony, and afterwards the hosts for the next year were chosen. President Ivanov congratulated the St. Athanasius day to the many believers, wishing them health, happiness and prosperity.

In the church in the Tetovo fortress dating from the late eighth century, the Christian holiday of St. Athanasius the Great is traditionally celebrated. The host of the monastery, Reverend Darko Naumoski, stressed the importance and the need for continuation of this church-popular tradition.

According to various historical sources, the church "St. Athanasius" is one of the oldest Christian church monuments in this part of Macedonia.
