The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, in the frameworks of the working visit to the People's Republic of China, in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, met with the leadership of the two major companies interested in cooperation with Macedonia.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister without Portfolio in charge of attracting foreign investment, Mr. Jerry Naumoff.
President Ivanov met with Dongfang Electric Corporation officials, one of the largest companies globally, producing equipment for hydro, thermal, wind and nuclear power stations and China Railway Engineering Group, whose representatives have already been in the Republic of Macedonia and met with government officials.
The Dongfang Electric managers expressed interest in investment opportunities in the Republic of Macedonia in hydro, thermal and alternative energy sources, such as windmills and solar panels for major energy projects and plans.
They also expressed interest in the benefits of investment in the free economic zones aimed at building a plant for manufacturing equipment and possibly solar panels. Thus, they announced a visit to the Republic of Macedonia soon.
The management team of China Railway expressed interest in investing in major infrastructure projects, such as railways and gasification, and expressed interest in the free economic zones.
It has been agreed that host in the Republic of Macedonia would be Minister Jerry Naumoff during their upcoming visit to closely see the existing free zones, as well as the possibilities to build new free economic zone exclusively for Chinese companies.
