President Ivanov meets with “Gazprom” President, Alexey Miller

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, met today with the President of "Gazprom", Mr. Alexey Miller, who is leading a delegation of the Russian company.
At the meeting, President Ivanov welcomed the signing of the agreement for accession of the Republic of Macedonia to the "South Stream" which is to ensure energy stability of the country in the coming decades.
"The accession of Macedonia to one of the most important gas pipeline corridors in Europe is a huge support for the energy system of the Republic of Macedonia and support for the companies that need gas and long-term energy supply", President Ivanov said at the meeting. During the meeting, Gazprom President informed President Ivanov on the implementation of the project, on the plans for its further implementation and on the concrete steps for its operationalization.
The Macedonian President expressed expectation that the cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the Russian Federation will be further improved in the future, not only in the energy sector, but also in other areas of common interest, through the implementation of other specific projects.
The President of "Gazprom", Mr. Alexey Miller, expressed satisfaction with the support given in continuity by President Ivanov for the cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and "Gazprom" and stressed that the Republic of Macedonia is included in the development plans of "Gazprom", and that, besides the existing projects, "Gazprom" is interested consider in future the possibility for other investments in the Republic of Macedonia.
