Meeting with Goran Svilanovic, Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, met today with Mr. Goran Svilanovic, Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council.

The Macedonian President congratulated the Mr. Svilanovic on his assuming the post of Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council and expressed confidence that the excellent cooperation will further evolve continuously, both during the Macedonian Chairmanship of the South East Europe Cooperation Process, and in the future.

At the meeting, they exchanged views on the implementation of the goals of the Macedonian SEECP Chairmanship, which are aimed at building awareness of the region of the need for a common approach to disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation. In this regard, President Ivanov expressed his satisfaction with the expert assistance that RCC provides in the process of making the concept of SEECP Summit.

Both interlocutors also confirmed the important role of the Regional Cooperation Council in providing European and Euro-Atlantic integration of the region. In this context, President Ivanov stressed the idea of setting up a fund for the future within the SEECP, as a mechanism to deepen cooperation in the region, which will provide funds for educational, scientific, cultural, media and other projects that promote good relations, cooperation mutual understanding and tolerance.
