The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, accompanied by the Pelagonia region mayors, opened today in Bitola the People’s Office, and thus, after Skopje and Tetovo, this is a continuation of the project People’s Offices for direct contact with citizens.

At the ceremony in Bitola, President Ivanov said that the opening of the office would enable the citizens to establish a direct contact with the institution President, the members of his Cabinet, to present their initiatives of public interest, to offer ideas, to submit suggestions and their personal views and visions for the future development of the Republic of Macedonia.

”Through these offices, we are trying to encourage citizens to provide their suggestions, proposals and complaints concerning the work of some institutions if they did not receive an appropriate response. Such offices make this institution closer to the citizens and enable them to influence the development of policies for a better and more successful Macedonia”, President Ivanov said.

People’s Offices are an opportunity for President Ivanov to get acquainted with the problems faced by citizens in everyday life and the way they require protection or exercise of certain rights and interests, and thus the attitude of the authorities towards citizens in acting upon their requirements.

The work of the People’s Offices in Skopje and Tetovo shows that citizens want to actively contribute with their ideas to the social processes and flows in the Republic of Macedonia.

”Experience tells us that in the initial meetings, the citizens often complain by submitting complains because earlier there was no such communication, but later they come up with proposals and initiatives. Young people are interested in the School for Young Leaders and the competition “Best Young Scientist”, and other activities that are of their interest. Through People’s Offices there is interaction that allows us to have insight into how citizens think about issues of public interest or regional perspective”, President Ivanov said.

At an invitation of the Pelagonia Region Development Center, on the occasion of April 22 - the Earth Day, the President of the Republic of Macedonia today visited the Bitola Zoo, where, under his auspices, the event “Every day is a happy day” was organized, dedicated to preserving and protection of existing biodiversity and the start of the project for a complete revitalization of the Zoo Garden in Bitola.
