The wife of the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Maja Ivanova, organized today Easter lunch for the spouses of the ambassadors accredited in Macedonia, visiting the monasteries "St. John the Baptist" and "St. George the Victorious" in the Debar village of Rajcica.
The lunch was attended by the spouses of the ambassadors of Italy, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Ukraine, United States and Switzerland.
According to Mrs. Maja Ivanova, the Resurrection of Christ is the greatest holiday of all, a holiday that celebrates the life, faith, hope and love and fills with blessing and tranquility, and is thus inspiration and reason for organizing that event.
"Together with the spouses of the ambassadors in Macedonia we have visited this region, the pearl of Macedonia and paradise on earth as some call it, and the two monasteries, "St. John the Baptist" and "St. George the Victorious".
The hosts in "St. John the Baptist" presented the history of the monastery to my guests and showed them other beauties in this region, so the admiration on their faces could be seen from the beauty, the architecture, the fresco painting and the spirituality of this ancient Macedonian sanctuary. This is also promotion of my country, the Republic of Macedonia, with all its historical, cultural and spiritual treasures, and right from this place I want to extend my appeal to young people to nurture and preserve the culture, history and spiritual values which are an inseparable part of our history and culture", Ms. Ivanova said.
The spouse of the US Ambassador, Ms. Capie Polk Bailey, said that she is visiting the region for the first time.
"Being in a place with exceptional spirituality and having the opportunity to see other things with spirituality as mosques, mountains, rivers and forests is really a wonderful pleasure", said the spouse of the US Ambassador.
The spouse of the Russian Ambassador to Macedonia, Ms. Larissa Shcherbak, said that it is a great pleasure, at a time when we are celebrating the Easter holidays, to wish all citizens of Macedonia prosperity, health and happiness.
"From the Monastery "St. John the Baptist" objects and other religious buildings can be seen, showing once again that religious and other communities in Macedonia maintain and preserve the coexistence", Ms. Shcherbak said.
