President Ivanov receives Credentials of new Ambassadors of Canada, Azerbaijan and Hungary

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov received today the letters of credence of the newly appointed Ambassadors of Canada, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Hungary.


At the meeting with H.E. Mr. Roman Waschuk, Ambassador of Canada to the Republic of Macedonia resident in Belgrade, President Ivanov expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of Canada for Macedonia’s integration processes. President Ivanov and Ambassador Waschuk highly assess bilateral relations and the meetings of the leadership of both countries. President Ivanov referred to the important role of the Macedonian community in Canada as a link between the two countries, stressing that in the new structure of the Macedonian Assembly representatives of the Macedonian citizens in Northern America are included for the first time. He expressed hope to further intensify the relations with the opening of the Canadian Embassy in Macedonia.

President Ivanov congratulated H.E. Mr. Faig Baghirov for his appointment as Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Macedonia resident in Ankara. At the meeting held after the ceremony of presenting the credentials, President Ivanov and Ambassador Baghirov expressed satisfaction with the bilateral diplomatic contacts and the efforts made to develop the economic cooperation. President Ivanov and Ambassador Baghirov discussed the energy projects for connecting Europe and the Caspian Basin region, as well as the possibilities the Republic of Macedonia to be connected to these projects that guarantee economic development and energy stability.  

President Ivanov and the newly appointed Ambassador of Hungary, H.E. Mr. Jozsef Bencze at the meeting expressed satisfaction with the high level of mutual relations. President Ivanov extended gratitude for the strong support given by the Republic of Hungary to Macedonia and its activities to start EU membership negotiations, particularly during the Hungarian Presidency with the European Council. President Ivanov and Ambassador Bencze expressed satisfaction with the level of economic cooperation and stressed that there are possibilities to strengthen it further.
