President Ivanov appoints new director of the Intelligence Agency

PRMportretThe President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, today, 27 March 2017, upon completion of the term of Mr. Nake Culev, Director of the Intelligence Agency, made a decision to appoint Dr. Zoran Ivanov as the new director of the Intelligence Agency.
 

Dr. Zoran Ivanov served as Head of Military Intelligence within the military security and intelligence service. He is a professional staff of the Ministry of Defense and active military personnel with combat experience in carrying out operations in the country and in international defense missions overseas. After completing military academy in Skopje, he was deployed in the battalion for special operations and participated in the 2001 conflict. He was awarded with a medal, a bronze star, for bravery by the US Department of Defense for serving as the commander of the military contingent and performing special operations and providing support to Iraq in 2006. He graduated and has his MA degree at the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, USA, and a PhD degree at the Institute of National History of the Republic of Macedonia. Since 2009, he is the Head of Military Intelligence. Besides combat experience, he is specialist for special operations and psychological warfare.
 

The former director, Mr. Nake Culev, continues to be part of the professional composition of the Intelligence Agency and, in cooperation with the newly appointed Director, he will continue the started process for transformation of the Intelligence Agency, whose mission is to collect data to inform the defense of the state, to protect the national security and achieve the interests of the Republic of Macedonia abroad.
