Meeting with Sir Alan Duncan, Minister of State for Europe and the America of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

PRM_Dankan_01The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, met today with Sir Alan Duncan, Minister of State for Europe and the America of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, the developments in Europe and the European Union, the current political situation in the Republic of Macedonia, the migrant crisis and the situation in the region.


At the meeting they exchanged views on the political crisis in the Republic of Macedonia and the opportunities to overcome it. President Ivanov expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of public accusation of the interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Macedonia by some neighboring countries.

During the talks, President Ivanov reaffirmed the strategic objectives of the Republic of Macedonia in terms of the European and the Euro-Atlantic integrations and the commitment to enhance the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

With regard to NATO, President Ivanov expressed disappointment with the double standards, disrespect of the ruling of the International Court of Justice and the rule of law in the case of Macedonia.

Regarding the European Union, the Macedonian President called for unblocking of the enlargement process that mobilizes and reforms the society. President Ivanov expects clearer support from the United Kingdom in view of achieving the strategic goals of the Republic of Macedonia.

The British minister emphasized that the United Kingdom wants a stable Republic of Macedonia and it will not interfere in the internal affairs of the country. He said he understood the legitimate revolt of the status quo regarding the European and Euro-Atlantic integration and indicated that they would support the Republic of Macedonia in this area.
