PRMThe President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, on the occasion of the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah, or the start of Jewish New Year, sent a congratulation message to the President of the Jewish Community in the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Berta Romano Nikolic, and to the members of the Jewish community in the Republic of Macedonia.

Dear Ms. Berta Romano Nikolic,

I have the honor and great pleasure to congratulate you and the members of the Jewish community in the Republic of Macedonia, the great holiday Rosh Hashanah.

The holiday that marks "the beginning of the year", according to ancient Jewish beliefs, is a "celebration of the birth of the world". In itself, it contains symbolic of a new beginning and remembering of the past and a prayer of repentance and forgiveness.

Leaving the old behind and starting the new year, on the holiday, the believers, in a prayer, ask for forgiveness and repentance, hoping for a new start with a desire for prosperity and welfare.

Celebrating the holidays, let us remember that we have to rise above ourselves and share wholeheartedly with those in need. Therefore, we should remain united in promoting the right values, guided by mutual trust and respect.

At the end, I wish you personally and all believers to celebrate the upcoming holidays in accordance with the centuries-long tradition, in family peace and wellbeing.

Shana Tovah

Dr. Gjorge Ivanov
