The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today the Head of the Liaison Office of the Hellenic Republic in the Republic of Macedonia, H.E. Mr. Dimitris Yannakakis.

President Ivanov wished Ambassador Yannakakis welcome and success in the execution of his function and expressed confidence that with his commitment he will contribute to the further improvement of bilateral relations between the two countries.

President Ivanov welcomed the intensification of the dialogue at the ministerial level and the efforts of both countries to accelerate the implementation of confidence-building measures. "It is necessary to enrich and introduce new content to the bilateral cooperation, which undoubtedly helps to create a positive environment. The same applies to the positive trend in the political dialogue which, in the coming period, should be maintained and enriched at all levels", President Ivanov said at the meeting.

In this context, the Macedonian President stressed the need for deepening the economic cooperation and harmonization and improvement of the legal framework, as well as the need for further infrastructure and energy connectivity, revitalization of the rail network and opening of new border crossings.

The interlocutors exchanged views on possible projects, whose implementation, through bilateral and regional cooperation, would be of interest to our region.
