The President of the the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, sent a letter of condolence to the President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on the occasion of the terrorist attack at the Istanbul International Airport.
"It is with shock and bitterness that I received the news on the latest terrorist attack at the Istanbul International Airport, and I sincerely regret the lives lost in this act of atrocity.
In these moments of deep sorrow in the Republic of Turkey, allow me, on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia, to express our sincere condolences.
Strongly condemning this subversive, violent and barbaric act, I am convinced that the only way to counter this common threat is through close cooperation of the entire civilized world. In absence of such cooperation, no one will ever be safe anywhere. Therefore, it is high time for the world to unite in defense of shared values. I assure you that in these difficult moments, the Republic of Macedonia empathizes with the Republic of Turkey, and I encourage you to decisively face the threat of terrorism in the protection of freedom, security and values of your citizens and the order of your country.
Distinguished President, our thoughts and prayers are with you and the families of the victims."
Dr. Gjorge Ivanov
