The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, sent a congratulation note to the Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia, H.H. Stefan, and to all Orthodox believers on the occasion of the Christian holiday marking the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God.

I avail myself of this opportunity to extend my heartfelt congratulations to you personally, to all Orthodox believers, to the members of the Holy Synod of Bishops, the venerable monks and clergy, the great Christian holiday of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God.

Marking the day dedicated to the Mother of God, we do mention the values of humility, patience, humanity, sharing the joy and sorrow and passing a helping hand to anyone who needs it.

The celebration of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary means observance and respect of family and family values, of understanding and love to our closest ones and willingness to overcome temptations.

Nurturing the tradition for many years, we celebrate the Day of the Mother of God - a protector, a prayer teller and a guardian of all Christians, following the principles that make us human and are the source of our spiritual strength. On this great day, we reaffirm our commitment for joint progress, harmony, respect and understanding of all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia.

Your Holiness, congratulating you the great Christian holiday I wish you good health and spiritual serenity. May all Orthodox Christian believers find peace and tranquility, surrounded by their loved ones and be filled with joy.
