Meeting with Ms. Louisa Vinton, new United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP and UNFPA representative to the Republic of Macedonia

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today Ms. Louisa Vinton, new United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP and UNFPA Representative to the Republic of Macedonia. President Ivanov welcomed Ms. Vinton and expressed expectation that the successful cooperation with the UNDP will continue in the future by implementing ongoing and future projects in the interest of the state and its citizens.
The UN Resident Coordinator, Ms. Vinton, commended President Ivanov's commitment to the topics of interest to the United Nations and expressed readiness for constructive cooperation with all Macedonian institutions, as well as for expansion of the support in the future.
The Macedonian President expressed his expectation that the United Nations Millennium Development Goals pertaining to the Republic of Macedonia will be successfully implemented, as well as the objectives in the areas identified in the 2010 - 2015 Action Plan, which, among the other things, are important in terms of bringing the country closer to the EU standards.
At the meeting, President Ivanov stressed the achievements of the Republic of Macedonia in the field of disaster risk reduction and adaptation to climate change and environmental protection, which is largely due to the UNDP involvement and implementation of projects.
