President Ivanov’s proposal for President of the ad hoc committee for the events of December 24, 2012

In the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Macedonia, today, May 16, 2013, Thursday, another meeting of the Secretary General of VMRO-DPMNE, Mr. Kiril Bozhinovski and the Secretary General of SDSM, Mr. Andrej Petrov, was held, regarding the establishment of an ad hoc committee tasked to inquire the events that happened on and preceded December 24, 2012, with the purpose of appointing a president of the ad hoc Committee.

At the meeting, the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, proposed the President of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Academician prof. Dr. Vlado Kambovski, as president of the committee, as respected and authoritative university professor of criminal law.

We urge both parties to comment on the proposal of President Ivanov for the purpose of establishing an ad hoc committee for soon commencement of its work, with the ultimate goal of meeting the reached political agreement of March 1st, and fully focusing on the Euro-Atlantic Integration of the Republic of Macedonia, in anticipation of the meeting of the European Council.

The public announcement of President Ivanov's proposal came after a sequence of previously held meetings and unsuccessful attempts to reach a consensus on the issue of appointing a president of the Committee.
