The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov today received a letter from the US President, Mr. Barack Obama. In addition, you will find the integral text of President Obama’s letter.

 Dear Mr. President,

I am writing to thank you for the additional soldiers and trainers the Republic of Macedonia plans to send to Afghanistan. With this contribution, the Republic of Macedonia is now one of the highest per capita troop contributors to ISAF. We wish your contingent continued success in its mission.

We appreciate your country’s continuing partnership in responding to our common challenges, not only in Afghanistan, but in other places around the world, including in Bosnia and Iraq. We continue to urge you to work through the UN process to resolve the name issue as soon as possible so that your country can move ahead in realizing its Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
