Letter to the US President Barack Obama
Tuesday, 03 May 2011 13:49

President of Republic of Macedonia Dr. Gjorge Ivanov has sent a letter to the President of the United States of America Mr. Barack Obama. The integral text of the letter is presented below:

Honorable President,

It was with great relief that I received the news of the action of the United States which resulted in removal of the threat that spread fear throughout the world, embodied in Osama bin Laden. Not only the United States but also the entire World will be safer and more secure as a result of your actions.

The entire World remembers the cowardly attack of September 11, 2001, as well as many other attacks directed towards innocent civilians, including women and children. These attacks remind us that evil, for which there are no excuses and justifications, still exists in this World and that the entire mankind should work on its eradication.

Therefore, it is of exceptional importance to defeat the calls for religious hatred and intolerance – by arguments when possible, and by use of force when necessary. Hence, the Republic of Macedonia will continue to act as a devoted member of the coalition of freedom loving countries, led by the United States, in the endeavors for spreading freedom and democracy in the World and for terrorist threat suppression.

The United States, as many times in the past, remain the leading inspiration and protector of the freedom loving nations around the World, regardless of their religion, race and ethnicity. In this role, I assure you that you will have Republic of Macedonia’s support and partnership.

Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration.

Dr. Gjorge Ivanov
