Meeting with Sir Alan Duncan, Minister of State for Europe and the America of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, met today with Sir Alan Duncan, Minister of State for Europe and the America of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, the developments in Europe and the European Union, the current political situation in the Republic of Macedonia, the migrant crisis and the situation in the region.


At the meeting they exchanged views on the political crisis in the Republic of Macedonia and the opportunities to overcome it. President Ivanov expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of public accusation of the interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Macedonia by some neighboring countries.

During the talks, President Ivanov reaffirmed the strategic objectives of the Republic of Macedonia in terms of the European and the Euro-Atlantic integrations and the commitment to enhance the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

With regard to NATO, President Ivanov expressed disappointment with the double standards, disrespect of the ruling of the International Court of Justice and the rule of law in the case of Macedonia.

Regarding the European Union, the Macedonian President called for unblocking of the enlargement process that mobilizes and reforms the society. President Ivanov expects clearer support from the United Kingdom in view of achieving the strategic goals of the Republic of Macedonia.

The British minister emphasized that the United Kingdom wants a stable Republic of Macedonia and it will not interfere in the internal affairs of the country. He said he understood the legitimate revolt of the status quo regarding the European and Euro-Atlantic integration and indicated that they would support the Republic of Macedonia in this area.

President Ivanov meets Regional Director of the International Organization for Migration (IOM)

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today Ms. Argentina Szabados, Regional Director for Southeast Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
 

The meeting discussed the current situation regarding the refugee and migrant crisis, the strategies and activities of the International Organization for Migration and the role of the Republic of Macedonia in dealing with the migrant crisis.
 

President Ivanov said that the Republic of Macedonia is implementing measures and acts in accordance with the conclusions of the European Council in order to prevent the threat of illegal migration, border protection and preservation of the integrity of the Schengen zone. “The security services of the Republic of Macedonia deal with the migrant crisis in a responsible and professional manner, with humanitarian assistance in line with the highest European and international standards”, the Macedonian President said.
 

Ms. Szabados informed President Ivanov on the strategies and priorities of IOM in terms of the future cooperation with the Republic of Macedonia in the field of migration. The Regional Director expressed satisfaction with the position of the Republic of Macedonia and the treatment of the refugees and migrants which is in line with all international standards and praised the country on dealing with the migrant crisis.
 

The Macedonian President thanked for the ongoing support of IOM and stressed the need to strengthen the capacities of the Macedonian security institutions and discussed the possibilities for greater support of the International Organization for Migration in strengthening the capacities of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia.
 

The IOM Regional Director expressed gratitude to the Macedonian authorities for their cooperation and assured that IOM will continue to support the needs of the country in the future.

Traditional working lunch with the Ambassadors of the Visegrad Group countries

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, hosted today a traditional working lunch with the ambassadors of the Visegrad Group countries, accredited in the Republic of Macedonia.

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, H.E. Mr. Jacek Multanowski, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic, H.E. Mr. Miroslav Ramesh, the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic, H.E. Dr. Martin Bezak and the Ambassador of Hungary, H.E. Mr. Laszlo Istvan Dux.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the opportunities to enhance cooperation, on the current political situation in the Republic of Macedonia, on the process of integration into the EU and NATO, as well as on the challenges facing the European Union and Europe and on the positions of the Visegrad Group countries in terms of the key challenges.
Regarding the political situation, the meeting noted that crucial for the Republic of Macedonia is to overcome the political crisis and formation of a government as soon as possible, committed to the European agenda and the economic, with a capacity to deal with the challenges of migrant and security crisis. The Ambassadors agreed that a step forward is necessary in the country's European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

President Ivanov welcomed the continued support of the Visegrad Group countries to maintain the momentum of the EU enlargement process and the strong support for prompt commencement of negotiations for membership of the Republic of Macedonia.

The Macedonian President thanked for the personal engagement and commitment of the Ambassadors in promoting the relations with the Republic of Macedonia, as well as for the consistent support from these countries in dealing with the migrant crisis.

The Ambassadors reaffirmed the commitments to continue the cooperation in dealing with the migrant crisis and the security challenges of the Central and Eastern Europe.

The meeting discussed the upcoming activities and plans for the exchange of visits at the highest level between the Republic of Macedonia and the Visegrad Group countries.

Congratulation letter to the President-Elect of the Federal Republic of Germany

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, sent a congratulation letter to Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the occasion of his election as President of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Respected Mr. Steinmeier,

I have the honor and pleasure, on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia and on my personal behalf, to extend my most sincere congratulations on your election as President of the Federal Republic of Germany, and to wish you much success in performing this responsible office.

Your election to this post is of extreme importance. It happens in a time of numerous serious challenges facing Europe, while the unity, the trust and the necessity for greater cooperation within the European Union is facing major temptations. I am deeply convinced that your extensive diplomatic experience and international reputation will result in tightened relations with the region, which needs support in order to achieve sustainable political stability, security, economic development.

Respected Mr. Steinmeier, I want to assure you that the Republic of Macedonia will continue the reform process in order to reach all the European standards and criteria, and will continue to contribute to the good neighborly relations and regional cooperation. I sincerely hope that the Federal Republic of Germany, as a true friend of the Republic of Macedonia, will continue to support our efforts for integration into the European Union and NATO.

Allow me, on this occasion to express my particular satisfaction with the achieved level and the continued positive trend in the relations and cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the Federal Republic of Germany. Meeting with Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Union, Mr. Johannes Hahn

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today the Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Union, Mr. Johannes Hahn.

At the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on the current political situation in the Republic of Macedonia and on the opportunities for prompt resolution of the political crisis.

The overcoming of the political crisis is crucial for the Republic of Macedonia to fully focus on the European reform and to continue achieving the EU integration goals, President Ivanov said.

The meeting emphasized the necessity of prompt formation of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, because it is only with fully functional institutions that the state would be ready to deal with all challenges.

In the context of the current situation, President Ivanov expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of public accusation of the interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Macedonia by some neighboring countries.

Commissioner Hahn informed President Ivanov on the meetings with the leaders of political parties and the opinions expressed and noted that the new government should be committed to the European perspective and focus on the European future of the country.

President Ivanov reiterated that the volatility in political life and the tension in the inter-ethnic relations are a consequence of the long lasting status quo of the Republic of Macedonia and urged for a more active engagement and support of Commissioner Hahn. Commissioner Hahn noted that there is an increased awareness among the EU member states about the necessity of unblocking the integration which necessitates formation of a government committed to European integration.

The Macedonian President at the meeting with Hahn said that he, as before and in the future, will act in line with the Constitution and in the interest of the state and the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia. Also, the President stated that he expects the new government to have two key priorities: First, protection of the state interests of the Republic of Macedonia, which implies preserving and strengthening the unitary character of the state. Second, systemic reform after the crisis which will cover the entities of the national security system of the Republic of Macedonia.

Претседателот на Република Македонија, д-р Ѓорге Иванов, отсекогаш постапувал согласно Уставот и законите на Република Македонија и во рамки на своите права, обврски и должности.

Тврдењата на СДСМ дека претседателот Иванов лаже дека постапил како претседателот Глигоров и дека го крши Уставот претставуваат груба лага и груба манипулација со јавноста.

Наводите на СДСМ дека претседателот Глигоров го доделил мандатот на второпласираната партија на тогашните избори, повикувајќи се на објавено соопштение од 14 јули 1992 година, претставуваат груба лага, бидејќи информациите изнесени во соопштението од 14 јули 1992 година се однесуваат на КОНСУЛТАЦИИ кои претседателот Глигоров ги извршил со СДСМ. Во соопштението јасно е укажано дека на овие консултации, претседателот Глигоров му предлага на СДСМ како на втора партија по бројот на пратеници во Собранието, да посочат КАНДИДАТ, кој претседателот на Републиката би го определил за мандатар за состав на Владата на Република Македонија.

Факт е дека во соопштението од 14 јули 1992 година, на кое се повикува СДСМ, претседателот Глигоров НЕ ГО ДОВЕРУВА мандатот на СДСМ за состав на Влада, туку од нив бара да посочат кандидат за мандатар.

Три дена подоцна, на 17 јули 1992 година, СДСМ во присуство на сите партии кои го сочинувале парламентарното мнозинство, го информираат претседателот Глигоров дека успеале да обезбедат парламентарно мнозинство и го определуваат Петар Гошев за мандатар.

Истиот ден, на 17 јули 1992 година, претседателот Глигоров мандатот за состав на Влада го доверува на Петар Гошев.

Во врска со тврдењата на политичката партија СДСМ, според кои, претседателот Иванов наводно поставува дополнителни услови за доделување на мандат за состав на владата, Кабинетот на Претседателот на Република Македонија оценува дека се работи за небулозен и груб обид за манипулација.

Барањата, што претседателот Иванов ги истакна не претставуваат услови, туку политички ставови на претседателот Иванов за идните приоритети на новата Влада, кои се конзистентни и се однесуваат на сите политички структури во земјата. Претседателот Иванов има целосно легитимно право да изнесува политички ставови и барања поврзани со државните интереси и од тоа нема да отстапи и во иднина.

Претседателот Иванов тие приоритети ги истакна и во неговото годишно обраќање, каде и тогаш јасно порача, прво - заштита на државните интереси на Република Македонија, што подразбира зачувување и зацврстување на унитарниот карактер на државата, и второ - системска реформа по кризата во која ќе бидат опфатени субјектите на системот за национална безбедност на Република Македонија.

Доколку од политичката партија СДСМ сметаат дека овие барања на претседателот Иванов не треба да претставуваат приоритети за државата и граѓаните на Република Македонија, тогаш СДСМ нивните ставови по овие прашања треба транспарентно да ги соопштат на јавноста, а не преку груби лаги и манипулации да го напаѓаат македонскиот претседател дека поставува услови за добивање мандат.
