As of today, 6 May 2011 up until 20 May 2011, the contest for the Training for inspiring and developing exceptional young leaders in Republic of Macedonia is open. This training which this year is being organized for the second time, will take place in Ohrid at the end of August. The program is intended for young people with completed higher education which have an aspiration to continually develop and upgrade their leadership skills and contribute to the positive development of the society and the environment in which they live and work.
Similar to the last year, the training will contain lectures in the areas of leadership, management and successful business and interpersonal communication, delivered by eminent professors and recognized professionals form the country and abroad. Besides lectures, management simulations and practical exercises will be offered. The training will be held in Macedonian and English, while eligible to apply are all young people from Republic of Macedonia, as well as children of Macedonians living in foreign countries. All the program related expenses, along with accommodation expenses, are covered by the organizer.
The idea for establishing a summer school for young leaders comes directly from the President Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, whose vision is to enable young people to get familiar with new contents and practices, to advance their knowledge and skills and become the leading force of the society and of Republic of Macedonia. Put in his own words: “The society is like a ship which at any given time needs people who will be ready to take over the handlebar… For future helmsmen to be prepared to take over the navigation we need to invest in their development and education”.
The success of the first Training for Young Leaders which took place in august 2010, has reflected in the initiative of the last year’s participants to establish an alumni association named “Ivanov School for Leaders – Alumni Association”, which works intensively and with dedication to uphold to the goals and the mission set during the School. The young leaders of this association work actively in several areas, among which is the initiative for organizing presentations for the high-school students on the topics “Motivation” and “Volunteering”. In cooperation with the Balkan Institute for Religion and Culture and the Oxford Connections Programme, the alumni have organized a Seminar on the topic “Political Leadership and Theology” which featured lectures by renowned professors of the University of Oxford.
