Reception of representatives of the National Council of Disability Organizations of the Republic of Macedonia

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, on the eve of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities - December 3, met today with representatives of the National Council of Disability Organizations of the Republic of Macedonia.
The representatives of the National Council of Disability Organizations of the Republic of Macedonia informed President Ivanov about the situation of the persons with disabilities, the challenges they face, as well as the results achieved in relation to the implementation of international norms and standards of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability, which this year marks 10 years since the adoption by the United Nations.
The interlocutors informed President Ivanov on the current activities related to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and added that the celebration of "December 3", as every year, aims to promote understanding of the challenges of disability, as well as to call for support by the community for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
The Macedonian President expressed support for the activities of the disability organizations and said that, as before so in the future, he will seek to further promote the rights of persons with disabilities, through the improvement of legislation and through its consistent implementation.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Association of Deaf and Hard of Hearing of the Republic of Macedonia, the National Association of the Blind of the Republic of Macedonia, the National Association of People with Physical Disabilities of the Republic of Macedonia – "Mobility Macedonia", the National Center for Support of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities – "Message", the National Association of Civilian Disabled Veterans of Macedonia, the National Federation of Sport and Recreation of Invalids of Macedonia – the Macedonian Paralympic Committee and the National Association of Disabled Workers of the Republic of Macedonia.
