Meeting with Sir Andrew Burns, Chairman of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, met today with Sir Andrew Burns, Chairman of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance and United Kingdom Envoy for Holocaust Issues.
President Ivanov was informed about the work of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, which is consisted of 31 member-states and 5 observer countries, including the Republic of Macedonia.
At the meeting, President Ivanov stressed the great importance the Republic of Macedonia attaches to the Jewish community and the special attention it pays to preserving the memory of the Macedonian Jews, victims of the Holocaust. In this context, President Ivanov recalled the opening of the Holocaust Memorial Center of the Jews of Macedonia in Skopje.
President Ivanov at the meeting with Sir Burns noted that the respect for the Jewish community in the Republic of Macedonia is in the spirit of our tradition and the spirit of the Macedonian model of integration without assimilation.
