The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today Astrid Thors, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities.

At the meeting, President Ivanov praised the engagement and support of OSCE in the field of improvement of relations between ethnic communities in the Republic of Macedonia. President Ivanov stressed that the Republic of Macedonia is a successful and positive example in the region with its approach towards building relations of respect and cooperation among various ethnic communities.

Both sides exchanged views on the implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement. Mutual conclusion was that its implementation has contributed to strengthening of the capacity of the Macedonian society and institutions, and to building a modern model of a functional multi-ethnic coexistence in the Republic of Macedonia. The Macedonian President expressed support for the Strategy for Integrated Education as a contribution to the increased interaction of students from different ethnic communities, and expectation for its smooth implementation.

The two interlocutors exchanged information on the integration process of the Republic of Macedonia into the EU and NATO, on the latest developments in the region and the relations with the neighboring countries.
