The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today the members and the leadership of the Women's Handball Club "Vardar SCBT", on the occasion of winning the third place in this year's Final-Four Tournament of the EHF Champions League in Budapest.
President Ivanov congratulated the great success of the national team and the bronze medals won and noted that, as before, he will unreservedly supports all Macedonian athletes in the future, adding that when playing as a team, success is guaranteed and inevitable. We are very proud of you. You have truly done a lot for the Macedonian handball, representing our country, President Ivanov said. With the high results that you consistently win, especially finishing third in this year's EHF Champions League, you have shown that with dedication success will always come, President Ivanov said. The achievements of the sportsmen are a positive example and incentive for young generations to engage in sports, but also a contribution to the international promotion of the Republic of Macedonia, President Ivanov said.
The President of the club, a famous handball player, former goalkeeper of the Macedonian national team, Gordana Naceva, said that their team has achieved a lot in a short time and that they have championship ambitions for the next year. With our hard work and dedication we have achieved this result, the third place, and represented with dignity the Republic of Macedonia, both in the field and beyond, said Naceva. The WHC "Vardar SCBT" players assessed the reception hosted by the Head of State as a motive to achieve greater results and represent Macedonia in the best light, because sport is the greatest country's ambassador.
Macedonian handball players won the third place by defeating the Danish FC Midtjylland, with 34:31 at the Final-Four Tournament in Budapest.
