predavanje1The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, today, as part of the celebration of the World Philosophy Day, gave a lecture at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje.

President Ivanov expressed his satisfaction with the opportunity and honor to be the patron of the scientific meeting on the "Philosophy Today", organized by the Faculty of Philosophy, "Ss. Cyril and Methodius" University and the Philosophical Society of Macedonia.

"Unlike the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat, philosophy and art are not essential for human survival. Man can survive without philosophy. But philosophy is one of those things that give true value and meaning of life and living. Philosophy makes life valuable", President Ivanov said.

"If you seek benefit in love and friendship, it means you have lost the sense of friendship and love. In philosophy is the same – if you seek benefit in philosophy, it means that philosophy has lost its sense. Although it is difficult, it attracts us to be more people than we actually are, and to see how infinitely we surpass ourselves, or as St. Clement would say - to compete in goodness. Those who have had the opportunity to hear or read a book of a prominent philosopher, they are easily convinced in this", President Ivanov said in the lecture held at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje.

Before the lecture, President Ivanov held a meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Professor Dr. Goran Ajdinski, as well as with the participants of the scientific meeting.
